RBA at Bagelfest: A Weekend of Connection, Curiosity, and Community for Bagel Makers Everywhere

Bagelfest 2025 reminded us exactly why the baking industry is built on community. As the RBA continues deepening our presence at national events, this year’s festival at Citi Field gave us the clearest picture yet of what bakers need, what they’re talking about, and where the energy is pointing next.

The Industry Talks were a standout highlight. These conversations didn’t shy away from the real challenges bakery owners face—staffing gaps, cost pressures, maintaining quality at scale, and keeping the community at the center of growth. Panelists were transparent, generous, and engaging, and the discussions sparked the kind of curiosity we love to see from bakers at every level of their careers.

What struck me personally was how naturally Bagelfest blended professionals, emerging bakers, and everyday bagel enthusiasts. That mix created a space where learning happened without pretense. People asked questions, shared stories, traded tips, and genuinely enjoyed the opportunity to engage with both the craft and the culture behind it.

For the RBA, this event reaffirmed the importance of showing up where our members and future members gather. The conversations we had at Bagelfest directly reflect the work we’re prioritizing—education, certification, business development, and community-building. And as we step into our upcoming Educator Roundtable and expanded BOB modules, we’re carrying forward the insights we gained this weekend.

Bagelfest was more than a festival. It was a reminder that when bakers come together, whether they’re rolling dough, judging competitions, or simply celebrating great food, the entire industry rises.

Be sure to stay connected with Bagelfest for updates on next year's show!
