A graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, Derek earned his Certified Master Baker (CMB) certification in 2024. Derek has appeared as a competitor and judge on Food Network and started a specialty cake business in the Hudson Valley, New York. In addition to his culinary accomplishments, Derek’s background includes a strong foundation in business and finance, which he has integrated into his teaching roles at institutions such as Napa Valley College, Stratford University and Santa Rosa Junior College.
