If earning your Certified Journey Decorator (CJD) credential has been on your professional goal list, there’s a new opportunity to stop thinking about it and start working toward it.
The Certified Journey Decorator Bootcamp returns for its sixth cohort beginning October 13, in partnership with The Bake Fest.
This 12-week virtual, self-guided program was created for decorators who want to strengthen the core skills behind professional cake decorating while preparing for the Retail Bakers of America Certified Journey Decorator exam.
Throughout the program, you’ll work through the decorating fundamentals and techniques you need to know, with instruction from Chef Raymond Blanchard, Certified Master Baker, and guidance from me as Executive Director of the Retail Bakers of America.
The program is especially well suited for decorators with at least a year of experience who are ready to:
- Strengthen their foundational decorating techniques
- Identify and work on gaps in their skills
- Become more consistent and confident in their work
- Prepare for the CJD practical exam
- Work toward a nationally recognized professional certification
And because the program is virtual and self-guided, you can practice from your own kitchen and work through the material on a schedule that fits your life.
Here’s what past participant Beverly Smith Grant shared after completing the program:
“I must say my heart is happy and overjoyed for my course completion and success. I now feel I have the fundamentals and can use my course materials as reference whenever I need to.”
That confidence in the fundamentals is exactly what we want participants to walk away with.
Enrollment for Cohort 6 is limited to 25 bakers. Keeping the group small allows us to create a more focused experience for the decorators working toward this next step.
If professional certification is one of your goals, I encourage you to take a look at the program and decide whether this is the cohort that gets you moving toward it.

We're proud to partner with The Bake Fest to bring this program back for another cohort, and I look forward to seeing the next group of decorators build their skills and work toward their CJD certification.
